More boring stuff about my life....I am out of town after driving straight through the night. I left home at 5:10pm and arrived in Las Vegas at 4:30am. I stopped in Vegas and blew $50 in Ceasar's Palace, but I really stopped just to stretch. But now I can say I gambled in Vegas. I made it to LA at 10am and met my friend around 10:45am.
In between Denver and Vegas, I collected quite a few bugs on my car:

I stopped 3 times within 100 miles of Denver to remove the bugs from the windshield so I can see. I don't think I've ever seen so many bugs on my car since I've owned it!
This is my first time in LA, and I must say it reminds me of home -- the people here drive like ass. A different kind of ass than that of the Denver drivers. Trust me, Denver drivers drive like ass, too, just in a different manner. I didn't realize how much I missed it! :-)
After meeting and greeting my friend, De, I crashed almost immediately.
When I awoke, I got to meet De's kids and her partner. They all seem very nice. We ate some take-out Chinese, and then washed our cars getting ready for the meet tomorrow morning.
De just got home, so I guess I should get off of here!
'Night!

Link/Tip of the day:Absolutely hilarious -- a Wal*Mart employee gets fired for something he didn't do, and exacts his revenge.
Speaking of lowly retail employees, check out
this funny site where employees bitch about their idiotic customers. Many of the stories (written by different employees from all over the world) seem to have the same theme: customer asks for something, employee says no (usually multiple times), customer (now upset) demands to speak to manager, manager tells customer no, and then the customer seems happy with the manager's response.... Some people Just Don't Get It(tm). I could write a few moronic customer stories myself....

More boring stuff about my life....Geesh, it's been almost a month.
Things have been going well. I have been working my butt off.
I didn't realize it at the time, but St. Patrick's Day was my one year anniversary living full-time. In a phone conversation, a good friend of mine from back home asked me if I would ever "go back." I didn't even hesitate to respond: never!
I went on a date last week with a woman I met online, Li. We went out for dinner after exchanging several e-mails and speaking on the phone a few times. We have scheduled another date for tomorrow night. :-)
I went to the shooting range the other day and tried out
a few guns. I actually did pretty good considering I haven't shot a pistol since I was in the scouts oh so long ago. The gun shop owner actually commented how well I did. I have two small (2mm - 3mm) blood blisters on my left palm. I pinched my palm whilst pulling the slide back on one of the guns. They still kind of hurt. It felt good to go shooting -- I think I might make it a regular occurrence in my weekly schedule.
A friend of mine from work is on food stamps, and he suggested I look into it as well. I think I will do that on my next day off. Every bit helps!
This weekend I will embark on a road trip to the west coast. I will likely take many pictures and regale you, oh blog reader, with the stories and pictures of this trip. I have never been to LA before, so this should be a fun adventure, indeed.
It snowed here a few days ago. Pretty heavily, in fact. We got more than a foot and a half here in Denver. I am glad I kept the snow tires on my car!
Speaking of which: my front passenger tire has a nail in it. Bleh. I fill it up with air every few days, but I should just go get the thing patched.
I went into work the day it snowed, only to find no cars in our parking lot, and only two employees in the building. They told me to get out of there and go home, which I promptly did without argument. When I got home, I turned on my cell phone (which I usually leave off and at home) to find 5 messages from my boss telling me not to come in. D'oh!
Typical Denver weather: the snow has completely melted in the two days following the snowfall. It will be 70 degrees here today and was in the 60's yesterday.
Back in December I received a letter in the mail about my Kryptonite bike lock that I bought way back in 1993 or so. They offered to replace the lock for free because of the
Bic pen issue. So, I sent in my lock with the UPS label they provided. When I got home from work the other day, a new lock was sitting in front of my door. The new lock uses a "flat" key instead of the vulnerable tubular key in the old design. It came with a new set of keys, which was nice because I had lost one of my old keys. :-) And they did it all for free. Nice. Now _that_ is customer service. Now I just need to get my fat ass out on my bike more often.
I finally have one of my old domains back up and running since the loss of the server way back in April or so of last year. The content is old, but it is back:
www.erinwardphotography.comNow I need to re-create the content for
erinheatherward.com when I have the chance. It was lost along with the server, and
archive.org doesn't seem to be of much help. Bleh.
Oh well, time to get some sleep.
