funny list of rants.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
More boring stuff about my life....Well, since the last time (more than a month ago!) a couple noteworthy things have happened.
The union bid failed. 44 votes against, 24 votes for. Sucks, I was hoping to improve the situation at work. There are still a lot of disgruntled employees. Likely, folks will realize the error of their voting and vote for the union next year. I will likely not even be an employee at this company in a year, but I do hope that things improve for the employees who are disenchanted.
The whole court issue got dismissed today! I got a call yesterday from the city attorney and he told me that with the evidence from the eye witness, they would dismiss the charges. Sweet. Now I don't need to worry about that drama any more.
I have found
myspace.com. A lot of people that I knew in My Past Life™ have contacted me through there. Kind of weird. It all started when a good friend of mine from work asked me if I had a myspace page, and told me that I needed to get one, so I did. Then people started messaging me. Crazy. I guess it's the New Thing™ these days.
I am going on a cruise on Saturday. I am going with my friend Br and her daughters. Down to the Caribbean. On Disney. Should be fun. I've never been on a cruise before, but everything that I've seen looks like it will be a good time. I will certainly bring back tons and tons of pictures. I will be going places that I've never been before like Cozumel, Mexico. Only bummer is that Alberto is still down in the Gulf of Mexico. Hopefully it won't affect our trip too much.
Speaking of the cruise, I just found out that work denied my vacation time off! I had talked with my boss about it back in March, and she said it "wouldn't be a problem." Well, I officially put in for the time off in the middle of May. I got the response on June 2nd. Denied! I talked to her a bit about it, and she asked me to reschedule the cruise. A little unreasonable considering that I'm going with other people, not to mention that everything had already been arranged: tickets in hand, shorexcursionsns planned, etc. Arrrgh! I am going anyways, and I certainly hope that I have a job when I come back. I have applied at several other companies around town, and have a possible job now (before I even leave for the cruise), but would hate to leave like that. I had even tossed around the idea of going part-time, refusing to work while I am on the cruise, and then coming back to full-time after I got back. Don't know if that would work or not. If you kids have any ideas, throw them my way.
I talked with a past co-worker from The Largest Newspaper in the World™. She has moved on to a local newspaper. My friend N suggested I contact her to find a job back in the IT field. She had no idea about "me" and was shocked, but she said that she was cool with it and is happy for me. She also said that she would try to get me a job there. Hello east coast! Hello IT job! Hello better pay! Hopefully I will hear from the paper soon.
I met a girl on the internet, and we've been dating off and on for a while now. Her name is L, and she actually e-mailed _me_. Bizarrely, she is totally "my type" and we hit it off right away. She has an amazingly similar past to me, it was weird when we were talking about our histories. I spent Memorial Day weekend down at her place and had a great time. Hopefully this relationship will bud into something more down the road.
I've been hanging out with friends from work these days, and I'm having a blast. "T" has been a great friend, so much so that she invited me to stay with her sister-in-law in Nebraska. We went out to Nebraska for work, and rather than stay in a hotel, we stayed at her sis-in-law's place. Had a great time, took a
bunch of pics there, too. I am going to send them a thank you note and a CD with the pics I took, since they don't have an internet connection there.
Oh well, I better take a shower and get some dinner. I have to work early in the morning tomorrow.
'Night!
